Baroness Estelle Morris of Yardley became president of NCB in the summer of 2005. The president promotes NCB to the external world, championing our causes and speaking on our behalf at events.

Baroness Morris, who earlier in 2005 stood down after 13 years as MP for Birmingham Yardley, served the government as school standards minister, secretary of state for education and arts minister. A former teacher, she was appointed chair of the Children’s Workforce Development Council in May 2005. She is also pro vice-chancellor of Sunderland University, where her role includes developing partnerships with schools and colleges. She was created a life peer in May 2005.

NCB's former president, Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, stood down in July 2005 after seven years in the role. The charity's first president was Baroness Lucy Faithfull OBE, who died in March 1996.
