Play England

Director: Adrian Voce

Play England promotes free play opportunities for all children and young people, provides advice and support to promote good practice, and works to ensure policy makers, planners and the public recognise the importance of play for children’s development.

Play England is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and based at NCB. It has a five-year programme, from 2006-11, to support the strategic growth of play provision and to establish a national infrastructure for the play sector in England.

Play England is also contracted by the Department for Children, Schools and Families to support and provide guidance to local authorities who have been allocated funding under the £235m Play Strategy for England.
