Frontline hopscotch - VCS engagement in delivering
change for children: a jumpy start or a step back?

The advent of local area agreements together with
the DCSF's Every Child Matters are changing the landscape of
children and young people's services. The findings, based on a
survey to which 173 organisations responded suggest very
strongly that local community based provision is under threat, and
that there is a danger that the vital preventative work of
small groups amongst the most disadvantaged communities will be
lost.

Aiming high for children: supporting
families

In the future the UK must respond to new challenges that will
impact upon children and families: demographic and socio-economic
change; technological developments and increasing global
competition. To continue to support parents and families and ensure
that public services contribute as effectively as possible to
improved outcomes for all children, young people and families in
ways that meet their needs, the Government plans to take action in
a number of key areas.
