Evaluates the impact of services provided by extended schools
and Sure Start children's centres on children and young people from
birth to 19 and on their families. It follows an earlier evaluation
of the national roll-out of extended services.

Evaluation of the Childcare Taster pilot and Extended
Schools Childcare pilot programmes: final report on qualitative
research into implementation

The Childcare Taster (CT) and Extended Schools
Childcare (ESC) Pilots were set up in eleven local authorities in
England between April 2004 and March 2006. The aims of the pilots
were to help lone parents enter employment by increasing their
awareness of the childcare available to them; providing an
opportunity to experience this provision; and, where necessary, by
creating additional childcare places through schools. This research
was based on qualitative information from stakeholders from LAs,
Jobcentres, Children’s Information Services, Schools and Childcare
Providers as well as participating and non participating
parents.

Collaborative leadership in extended schools: leading in
a multi-agency environment
NCSL, 2006
This report is intended to provide advice and guidance to
leaders in schools on how to address the issues associated with
multi-agency working. In doing so, particular attention is given to
the implications of multi-agency working to individuals in extended
schools, who, almost by definition, are particularly likely to face
many of the challenges associated with this collaborative
working.
